There's still plenty of February left to earn a Seal o' Piracy for all your pirate characters, and the task is simple as can be. To earn your seal this month, all you've got to do is...
Complete a non-Navy session of 5 different duty puzzles (Bilging, Carpentry, Sailing, Rigging, Gunning, Navigation)
Getting 4 of your 5 duty puzzles down should be as simple as hopping aboard a pillage or blockade and doing whichever puzzle you still need to do (if, that is, the station is still open and your captain is amenable). Unless you're an officer yourself, getting a non-navy session of gunning or duty navigation can be trickier. Two basic strategies for acquiring one of these advanced duty sessions come to mind...
First, try spending a little time with the navy in order to improve your skills in gunning or d-nav. Having a puzzle standing of Master or better can increase your chances of getting that all-important gunning or d-nav assignment on your next voyage. Remember, though, that this is ultimately up to the officer in charge. Don't give yourself a bad reputation; ask politely and accept the answer given.
Second, keep an eye on your Ocean's Notice Board. Under the "Voyages" tab, in the "Pillaging with a Crew" section, mouse over the speech bubbles for further details about the trip. If you see Vikings, "VD" or "VR" mentioned, hit the Apply button immediately! On a Viking Raid defense, everyone gets to gun. (Again, improving your gunning stats while practicing with the navy is never a bad idea. Some jobbing officers can be picky.)
