How to dress for the opera at Lincoln Center

Going to Lincoln Center is always a treat and, it is one experience that every person should have at least once in their life. But, what does one wear to the opera at Lincoln Center? There is a certain air of sophistication surrounding Lincoln Center, and, it is evident in the clothing worn by its patrons.

While there is no official dress code for Lincoln Center, most patrons do dress - make that REALLY dress for the occasion. (Even the younger crowd follows this tradition.) You don't need to wear a ballgown or tuxedo, however, you certainly won't be out of place if you do - especially at a Gala or special occasion performance. However, to truly enrich your experience, do dress as though you are going to a fine restaurant. A suit and tie for gentleman, and, a cocktail dress for ladies will make you feel right at home - even if it your first time at Lincoln Center.

Are jeans allowed? Yes, no one will kick you out or deny you admission if you are wearing jeans, but, you'll stand out in the crowd. After all, dressing is part of the Lincoln Center experience. So, if you are heading to Lincoln Center, it is the perfect excuse to go out and buy that new outfit you've been eying! Have a wonderful time!
