How to double the amount of canned frosting to spread it further

See also

Ever frost a cake or cupcakes and find that the container isn’t quite enough to do the whole job? There really is enough frosting in a container of frosting to do an entire cake or a batch of eighteen or more cupcakes. It all depends upon how you spread it on.

Some like it thick, some like it thin and others like it piled high. That’s when it gets tricky. The more elaborate the design the more frosting is used and by the time you get around the cake or to the last six cupcakes there isn’t enough to spread around.

There is a simple trick that will ensure you always have enough frosting from a container no matter what your frosting technique entails. All you have to do is transfer the frosting from the container into a medium sized bowl. Then take out your hand mixer. Whip the frosting and watch as the amount doubles in size.

Now you will have enough frosting to spread over all those cupcakes and frost that cake so there aren’t any spaces left uncovered. You may even have some left-over. If you do, just add a little drop or two of food coloring and create a design around the cake or add a flower to the top of each cupcake to perk it up and make it more appealing for all.

Another great thought to consider is when the frosting is whipped you actually wind up eating less sugar and consuming less calories than when the frosting is spread right from the container. Doing this will also save you money from having to purchase a second container of frosting and have a lot left-over. A great little trick to keep in mind when there is a bake sale and when you bake cupcakes for your child to bring to school for a party.

Got enough frosting now?
