How to do matte nailpolish

I'd like to introduce you to my new lover: Matte.

To try the new matte nails, follow these steps:

  1. Always start with a base coat.  Mattes don't last very long and the base coat will make a big difference.
  2. Remember that mattes dry quickly so be sure the color is even.
  3. Don't use a topcoat, since the point isn't to shine, you just need a couple thin coats.

A few favorite matte shades are OPI Russian Navy - Matte, Essie Wickedly Matte and Zoya Loredana Matte.

Since the polish doesn't last long (darn chippers), try getting a matte topcoat instead of ditching your old favorites.  Consider CND Super Matte or Nail Tek Hydration Therapy Matte Topcoat.

Just remember, like a true boyfriend, Matte won't be around long.  He'll likely be gone by fall, so enjoy it while lasts, but don't invest too much.
