How to do an outdoor workout at any local park

With July upon the Twin Cities, residents can venture outdoors for a few more months before the land begins to freeze.

An outdoor workout can be a great change of scenery and can help to refresh your entire fitness perspective. When the same routines and exercises are done day after day after day, it gets to be boring and monotonous.

Local playgrounds are a great place to do an outdoor workout. If you’re bringing the kids there anyway, why not get some exercise in for yourself? Even if you don’t have children, a playground can be a great place to get a good workout in.

Push Ups

Push-ups can be done in the grass near the playground area. For variation you can lie face down in front of a swing and place your toes on the swing.

Crunches

These can be done either lying on the ground or by hanging by your legs from some monkey bars.

Lunges

Walking lunges can be done around the entire perimeter of the playground area.
Minneapolis summers are fairly short so enjoy the beautiful weather while it’s here.

Make an Obstacle Course

Use the playground as an obstacle course and complete each station or activity at least one time, going through the course as many times as you can.
