In Michigan any company that wishes to sell to the state must have a Certificate of Awardability. It simply means that your company has been deemed to meet the civil rights laws of the state. Important in the award is a lack of EEOC or State of Michigan discrimination and ADA claims. It means the company has to have a focus to eliminate bias in the workplace.
Making Diversity Work: 7 Steps for Defeating Bias in the Workplace takes an approach to workplace diversity rooted in conquering bias. Author Sondra Thiederman, PhD, proposes the key to unlocking diversity is to recognize the bias each person openly or subconsciously possesses. Dr. Thiederman uses 25 years of research to compile this excellent volume of easy-to-enact strategies focused on creating individual change.
The real-life examples, practical tips, and exercises, contained in the book guides readers on a journey of self-discovery, intellectual awareness, and healing. It is a required addition to any diversity library.
