Making a pair of crochet sock booties for a newborn baby is a fast and fun way to make a creative gift for a new baby in the family.
There are many patterns available to crochet a pair of booties. Booties can be crocheted in different sizes, colors and styles from sock style booties to the traditional baby booties.
To start with choose a soft baby yarn such as Bernat Baby Yarn, Lion Brand, or Red Heart Baby Yarns. Choosing the right yarn for your project will make the pattern turn out the way you intended it to be. Usually about 1 or 2 skeins will be enough if you are only making a pair of booties. The size of the crochet hook will be determined on what pattern you are using but typically F, G or J is used.
Typically a hdc or single crochet stitched is used when crocheting a pair of baby booties or socks to make the stitch tighter and to create a warm pair of booties for baby.
