A home bar is a common staple among homes that keeps events going well into the wee hours. Some may have the space or finances to create a full-size bar while others may not have the same fortune. The truth of the matter is – you don’t need a ton of room to create a home bar; you just need creativity. All good hosts need a home bar for their affairs and they are just plain awesome to have. So if you are planning to throw an end of the year bash or just want a collection of your fave drinks for just because, you will need a home bar. Here is how to make it work in a small abode.
{Creating a Home Bar in a Small Home}
1.) Find a cool, unused space. Liquor should be kept in a cool place away from direct sunlight. For this reason, you should find a place that offers some concealing capabilities. An unused credenza or old cabinet makes for an awesome mini bar. You can utilize the top surface for your home bar and interior for storage, or just the inside for a secret liquor cabinet.
2.) Wall shelves. Should you lack the square footage for a home bar, take it to the walls via shelving. Separate your house brands from your top shelf by placing each unit at different elevations. Use different sizes and widths to add interest to your walls. You can even show off bar accessories and glasses.
3.) Repurpose a tray or mirror. No one says you have to have your home bar visible 24/7 (especially if it takes up space) so think about introducing a smaller “home bar.” Keeping a limited quantity of your best and favorite liquor, use an old mirror or tray to showcase your mini collection. You can set this up on your dining room table, coffee table or kitchen counter. This compact home bar can hang around all year or come out on special occasions.
4.) Use a mobile cart. Small carts on wheels are your bff in a tiny home. You can use it in the kitchen as an extra surface, in your bedroom as a nightstand, or around your living room as a second pair of hands. Place your spirits on the bottom of the cart and your glassware and bar accessories on the top.
5.) Add your liquor and enjoy. Once you have a place for your home bar, all you need are your favorite beverages and bar essentials. Enjoy!
