You want the best your money can buy. You can spend $500 on a couples spa package; so, first decide on your budget.
Whether you are looking for a romantic all –inclusive getaway or a day spa in a mall, if you’re like me, you’ll want the most romantic venue you can find! Look for a location somewhere in nature, at the beach, in the mountains, that will strengthen the experience of being on vacation.
Q: What services should I expect?
A: Ideally, your spa package should last at least two hours. It should include a one-hour massage or some kind, a Jacuzzi together, and if possible, private use of some spa amenities and/or food. Some spas have men’s and women’s locker rooms so you are separated out but they are still good places. Ask if you can get a sit down meal catered for you; if not, how about champagne and chocolates?
The Petite Retreat has lovely couples massage packages. It includes a jade stone massage, a copper bath for two, and bottle of champagne for $401, conveniently located south of Hollywood, near Paramount Studios in Larchmont Village. There is no steam but there is a co-ed lounging area. Call them at 323-466-1028.
Creative Chakra Spa is near Venice Beach overlooking the Pacific in Marina Del Rey, 100 yards south of the Venice Pier at the end of Washington Blvd. They have both outdoor and indoor couples massage packages. All include full 60-minute massages. You can get Thai or Shiatsu massages at the beach, in the sand, by the shoreline, under shaded umbrellas for $110 per person or how about an outdoor fireside massage, on a heated table watching glowing lava rocks. Fireside is $325 and includes hors d'oeuvres or Cabana Massage by day with jasmine-covered hideaways in which to sit and reflect, just $230. Call them at 310-823-9378.
Indoors: Creative Chakra has private spa suites and bathrooms. Choose the “Champagne Sunset,” or the "Couples Spa Experience” starting with tea in the ocean view tea terrace, a massage of your choice, Jacuzzi for two is included in these couples’ packages. Also included is a sit down healthy meal in the patio-lanai area. -$495 and sometimes on-special for $258.
The Langham Huntington, in Pasadena has a spa couples package starting at $234 for two massages, more if you wish extras. While massages are co-ed, they have separate men’s and women’s sauna and Jacuzzi so men and women are unable to enjoy a co-ed situation for those services. Still it’s a beautiful facility and highest-quality service is their trademark. They are one of the best. Call them at 626-585-6414.
The couple’s package at the Ritz Carlton in downtown L.A. includes a milk bath, sugar scrub and a 50-minute massage for $525 for two. Regular price of a 50-minute massage here is $135. Call them at 213-743-8800
Also consider Tikkun Spa in Santa Monica whose specialty is Korean body scrubs in their couples room. You pay $95 each for Swedish massage. Deep tissue massage is $120 each. There is a bath in the room for use by couples. Sorry men, only the women’s locker room has a Jacuzzi. You can pay an extra $100 for an extra hour with the bath in the couples room which also has a heated jade relaxation area. The total then is approximately $340 for all of this. Conveniently located in downtown Santa Monica, amenities included at no cost include separate men’s and women’s sauna and steam. Call them at 310-319-1111.
“Spa 415” couple packages are in Beverly Hills located in a medical building. They offer couples: champagne, strawberries, private bathtub for two and 50 minute massages for $385. Co-ed steam room is available if you call ahead of time. Sorry, no Jacuzzi and no sauna. Call them at 310-341-4366.
