How to Burn Fat ~ What Foods Help?

You would like to lose some pounds or you just want to maintain a healthy weight? There are foods that turn on your fat burning “machine” and are loaded with vitamins, nutrients, and taste!

Eating beef can be a “good” thing for your body. Lean beef is a great fat burning food. It also has a reduced amount of saturated fat compared to other beef and yet is still loaded with protein. The iron in beef is also vital for the creation of hemoglobin in your red blood cells.

Good old turkey is packed with protein to increase “the burn” and is lower in fat compared to chicken. You want to buy turkey in its most natural form to get the most health benefit.

Salmon is loaded with protein and Omega-3 fatty acids and boosts your metabolism into burning more fats. And guess what? The fatty acids also help to protect against heart disease.

Lightly boiled and salted (of course salt is optional) soy beans (Edamame) are a great snack and an excellent source of protein, vitamin C, iron, and calcium. 0g of saturated fats also makes them guilt free!

If you love broccoli you are eating one of those super foods that you can never eat enough. Broccoli is packed with calcium, vitamin A and C, folic acid, and fiber. Loaded with antioxidants the vegetable provides a multitude of health benefits.

A great breakfast is big bowl of oatmeal with some fruits on top. Make sure you buy the pure stuff and not the flavored variety (loaded with sugar). It contains soluble fiber which helps to reduce cholesterol. Oats are also a good source of selenium which helps your immune system to produce antibodies and boosts your energy.

Skim milk or my very favorite almond milk contain large amounts of calcium that helps to burn calories.

Last but not least one of my other favorites is green tea. Green tea contains EGCG that stimulates your brain and nervous system and yes ~ that also results in a higher “burn”. It also contains powerful antioxidants which appear to help to reduce the risk of cancer.

Closing Thoughts:

There are no short cuts or pills for long term weight loss. If you want a healthy weight for good you have to change your eating habits.
