How to attend SXSW music, film and interactive festivals for free

The South by Southwest (SXSW) Festival runs from March 8 to 17, 2013 and is currently accepting volunteers to help staff the event. The film portion runs March 8 to 16, the music conference runs March 8 to 12 and the interactive festival is March 8 to 12 and the SXSW Music Festival runs March 12 to 17.

Volunteers get free access to many events in return for their service. Volunteers get to see behind the scenes, earn a chance to see informative panels, catch an up-and-coming band or stand-up comedian, question an emerging filmmaker or rub elbows with the movers and shakers of the Internet industry, making it a great opportunity to network, socialize and have fun.

SXSW volunteer positions range from festival production to registration, technical support, and much more. Day and night positions are available during the conference. Volunteers must be able to work a minimum of 30 hours or 3 shifts during the event, depending on their crew type.

Applications are available online and crew shift selections will take place on January 19, 2013 between 3:00 and 5:00 p.m. and Tuesday, January 29, 2013 between 6:00 and 9:00 p.m. at the Austin Convention Center, Ballroom ABC on the First Floor. Interested volunteers can also contact a SXSW volunteer coordinator at volunteer@sxsw.com or (512) 467-7979 to express their interest.
