Any fisherman who has spent a lot of time on the water will attest that bass relate to aquatic vegetation. If there are weeds in the lake, chances are bass will be near them.

When fishing vegetation, lure selection is critical. Soft plastic baits are often a favorite choice of fisherman for their ability to be rigged in a weedless fashion. The most popular method of which is called the Texas rig.

The Texas rig is a very basic method but can be difficult for those who lack proper practice. A poorly rigged plastic worm will often not be entirely weedless. It will also alter the motion of the bait making it behave unnaturally.

These will both hinder the angler's chances at catching fish.
