Obama's executive orders are primarily aimed at Institutions, the criminal population and mentally unstable individuals. If you are not in one of these categories then the new gun laws will probably not affect you at all.
Obama is not motioning to have gun owners surrender their weapons. No where in the 23 executive orders that President Obama signed did it say anything about gun or magazine confiscation. What it does focus on id strengthening the mental health system, stricter penalties for violators more extensive background checks and school security and training.
He has motioned to ban high capacity assault rifles, armor piercing bullets and magazines holding over 10 rounds from being sold. He wants care givers to become more involved, as well as a number of other organizations to work on detection and prevention. Gun dealers both private and retail are to be brought up to date, and no more loopholes in organizations like gun shows will be present for easy access to these weapons.
The only way these laws will actually affect current gun owners is if law enforcement confiscates your guns you will have to undergo a background check and possibly a mental evaluation before they are released to you.
