How Taking Back Sunday met your mother

A new Taking Back Sunday b-side released for streaming online this week.

The track, "How I Met Your Mother," displays the Long Islanders sounding the most vigorously youthful and energetic that they have since their debut release, Tell All Your Friends, ten years ago.

Spread over the past releases, the group dabbled in their much-lauded, explosive, raw sound of old. Other than a few tracks here and there (such as Louder Now's "Spin") they have sounded more homage than true to form. Fortunately, after the rekindling of old flames with the reuniting of their original lineup, and a subsequent self-titled release, in 2011, the group have been steadily building themselves back up. If this b-side, and the full-length from which it was torn, are any indication, the group may be poised for a renaissance from the shadows of their past glories.

The track comes off their latest album, Happiness Is, which dropped on March 18 via Hopeless Records. It recaptures that past magic that once made Taking Back Sunday a serious contender in the music world, combining it with a newfound invigoration and successful musical growth and exploration.

"How I Met Your Mother" is only available with select bundle packages of Happiness Is.
