How northeast Texas teachers spent their spring break

On Monday morning, March 11, DISD teachers boarded a bus and headed to Austin to ask for an increase in funding education. Dallas ISD and Dallas County teachers joined thousands of other teachers from all around the state for a rally at the Texas state capitol. Classroom teachers fervently assert that money concerns divert their attention from things they should be focusing on, primarily the children they teach.

By Wednesday, state lawmakers had decided they should spend more on education. State Senate budget writers are adding $5 billion in proposed spending. The Senate will now consider $1.4 billion more in spending for education.
