Spurs NBA player Tony Parker inked a 50 million four-year contract recently, according to Radar Online and that big fat paycheck could find its way into "Desperate Housewives" Eva Longoria's hands in divorce court.
Eva Longoria filed for divorce from her husband of three years on Wednesday of this week following an unexpected revelation: her husband had been sexting with Erin Berry, the estranged wife of Brent Berry, a former ballplaying colleague of her husbands.
Tony Parker initally appeared to be refraining from commenting or taking action of his own in the heat of the moment, possibly hoping his wife Eva Longoria would mull over a potential reconciliation, especially since he swore it was never a physically consumated relationship between he and Erin Berry.
Eva and Tony praying for each other
Eva and Tony Parker both acknowledged that they were saddened to see their divorce end: Actress Eva Longoria asks for prayer for her and Tony Parker. But that sadness did little to dissuade either of them from heading to the divorce courts this week.
"Desperate Housewives" actresses and crew rallied around Eva Longoria as she filed her divorce paperwork in Texas, where Sandra Bullock sought to also remove her husband from her life.
Spurs' Tony Parker gave it two days and then filed his own divorce paperwork in California, according to Radar Online, where community property laws favor 50/50 splits and take six months instead of Texas' two month divorce resolution period.
Tony Parker: I didn't cheat physically
Tony Parker still claims he didn't physically cheat; Eva feels emotionally cheating is bad enough and warrants divorcing him. Erin Berry and Brent Berry were already going through a divorce, but there divorce wasn't final at the time Tony Parker was sexting Brent Berry's wife Erin, so it's anyones guess when theres will end now.
Will Eva Longoria see half of Tony Parker's 50 million contract paycheck from the Spurs in her divorce? If the courts decide that California is going to be the venue for the divorce proceedings that could be the case.
What's the motive for Tony filing in California: 50 million dollars worth?
So why would Tony file there instead of going with Eva's divorce filing in Texas?
Divorce usually boils down to money or revenge when both parties start filing their own paperwork. Rumors of a prenup are rampant, as are rumors that one doesn't exist in the Eva Longoria and Tony Parker divorce.
California favors 50/50 splits of all properties; Texas--as we saw in the Sandra Bullock, Jesse James divorce--can allow couples to part with what they brought into the marriage or made during it.
Tony Parker's California divorce filing could be to protect his 50 million contract paycheck or it could be to stall his "Desperate Housewives" love Eva Longoria from getting a quicker divorce in Texas.
