How many Grammys will Beyonce win?

Beyonce Knowles is the top nominee at the 2010 Grammy Awards, having scored an impressive ten nods. How many will she win?

Beyonce is a contender for each of the "Big Three" awards: Record, Song and Album of the Year. She could conceivably win any of them, but she's an underdog to Taylor Swift and Kings of Leon for Record and Song of the Year and to Taylor Swift and the Dave Matthews Band for Album of the Year. Beyonce is likely to go 0 for 3 in those categories.

She's also not likely to win Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for "Ego," her team-up with Kanye West.

Beyonce is up for four awards in the R&B field and could sweep them all. Best Contemporary R&B Album is almost a guaranteed win for I Am...Sasha Fierce. Ditto for Female R&B Vocal, where "Single Ladies" should take the trophy. That song could also claim Best R&B Song. "At Last," Beyonce's remake of the Etta James classic, is even money to win Best Traditional R&B Vocal Performance.

The final two categories are a bit harder to predict. "Halo" is up for Female Pop Vocal Performance but will have to compete with Pink and Taylor Swift. And it's difficult to know whether voters will want to reward Beyonce for "Once in a Lifetime," a track from the Cadillac Records movie nominated for Best Song Written for a Motion Picture.

The record for most Grammys won in a single night is eight, shared by Michael Jackson and Santana. The record for most awards in one night by a female is five, an achievement shared by six women, including Beyonce herself back in 2004.

How many Grammy Awards will Beyonce win? The prediction here is that Beyonce wins all four R&B awards and nothing else. Four awards would still make for a pretty impressive Grammy showing, but she may be overshadowed because it looks like Taylor Swift could win at least five.

Beyonce's 2010 Grammy Awards nominations:
•Record of the Year (Halo)
•Song of the Year (Single Ladies)
•Album of the Year (I Am...Sasha Fierce)
•Female Pop Vocal (Halo)
•Female R&B Vocal (Single Ladies)
•Traditional R&B Vocal (At Last)
•Best R&B Song (Single Ladies)
•Best Contemporary R&B Album (I Am...Sasha Fierce)
•Rap/Sung Collaboration (Ego, with Kanye West)
•Song Written for Motion Picture (Once in a Lifetime)

The 2010 Grammy Awards air on CBS on January 31.

It's a good Grammy year for women, no matter how you slice it.
