How Jennifer Lawrence is avoiding an Oscars curse

Jennifer Lawrence found a way to avoid the Oscars curse that has plagued so many Best Actress winners. According to a Feb. 23 report by Perez Hilton, many stars that have snagged the Best Actress award have gone on to suffer relationship-wise by losing their lovers. However, Jen has made sure that she won’t be a victim of the curse by staying single for the Oscars.

Jennifer Lawrence and her "X-Men: First Class" costar Nicholas Hoult called it quits a few weeks ago, so she lost an amazing Oscars accessory -- Nicholas is so gorgeous that he even looks hot as a zombie in the movie “Warm Bodies.” It's going to be hard for Jen to replace that arm candy.

Perhaps Jen was just so confident about winning Best Actress for "Silver Linings Playbook" that she orchestrated her breakup with Nicholas Hoult in order to avoid the curse. A shocking number of Oscar-winning actresses have had reaching the pinnacle of their careers marred by heartbreak, so maybe Jen was trying to save herself from that pain by getting her breakup out of the way before the Oscars.

Sandra Bullock wasn’t as lucky -- she’s one of the stars who exchanged her real man for a little gold statue of a man. However, now that her heart has somewhat healed from Jesse James cheating on her with a tattoo-covered fetish model, “The Blind Side” star probably sees this as the best trade she’s ever made.

Reese Witherspoon went on to lose Ryan Philippe after snagging a statuette for “Walk the Line,” and Hilary Swank and Chad Lowe fell victim to the Oscars curse after Hilary won Best Actress for “Million Dollar Baby.” Hilary infamously forgot to thank her hubby during her acceptance speech, and Lena Dunham later tried to right this slight by thanking Chad when she won her Golden Globe. Other gorgeous victims of the ruthless curse include Charlize Theron, Julia Roberts, Halle Berry, Helen Hunt, and Kate Winslet.

There have been rumors of a romance between Jennifer Lawrence and her “Silver Linings Playbook” costar Bradley Cooper, so is the Oscars curse the only thing keeping them apart? After all, they are planning on working together again in the future, and they wouldn’t want to make things awkward by going through a post-Oscars breakup.

Luckily for fans of the onscreen couple, it doesn’t look like this uncomfortable situation will ever be an issue. According to The Sun, this is what Jen said about her feelings for Bradley Cooper: “Bradley and I had really wonderful chemistry on screen. I think the key to sexual chemistry on screen is having no sexual chemistry off screen.” So Hollywood won’t be getting a Brad and Jen remake, which is sad since the ending of the Pitt-Aniston version could definitely be improved.

Maybe Jen will consider getting back with Nicholas Hoult instead once the Oscars are over and she doesn’t have to worry about the curse anymore. The couple will work together again on “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” so they'll get a chance to reconnect. However, since Jen is as talented as she is, she’s probably going to have to worry about the Oscars curse ruining her relationships for the rest of her life.
