How important is it to read the Bible?

See also

The Bible is still the most widely purchased book in the world. The Bible is the handbook, instruction book, a book of love and redemption that is cherished by Christians all over the world.

While there are naysayers and Bible bashers – the Bible remains and it will to the end of time. There are only two things that will escape this world – the souls of man and the Word of God.

It is said, “Don’t knock it until you have tried it.” Many people dismiss the Bible based on what others say about it. It is often misused and miss quoted. There is nothing like finding out for yourself. Many fear reading it because they think they will be condemned. “For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. John 3:17

There is a wonderful site online that not only gives you the scripture reading for the day to lead you through the Bible from beginning to end; but gives sooooo much more.

It has beautiful art work, and video music, explanations of pertinent information about the Bible to help the reader understand it better.

You just can’t take scripture out of context and get the full understanding. You have to know: When it was written, who wrote it, why it was written, and the purpose of the writing.

Some consider the Bible as an antiquated old book with no meaning or purpose. The Bible is as current as your morning newspaper or news report on TV.

There have been mysteries in the Bible not understood in previous generations; but as the world advanced and events came to pass, more and more of those mysteries have been solved.

We have time to do everything else we want to do and then say we don’t have time to read the Bible. Then we go through tough times in life and just aren’t prepared and don’t know what to do. Many live in pain of their past, many are making life choices that are destroying them, and many do not know how to treat others – and so many other things that can be solved by reading the Bible.

Forget what others say about the Bible. Be your own person and find out for yourself. And remember, “When all else fails, read the instructions!” People will spend time reading about the latest electronic gizmos to figure out how to be entertained. What a blessing they miss by not reading God’s Word.

God has made it so easy and now it is easy to read from any place where you have your gizmos.

Do yourself a favor and check this out for today’s edition. What do you have to lose? Yes, what do you have to lose, is the question.

Christians believe that God’s Word is the only hope for America. Renowned minister, Billy Graham, was asked what he regretted the most about his life and he said, “I didn’t read the Bible enough!” This is a man who dedicated his life to reading the Bible and sharing its message and yet he still felt he could have read more.

Don’t let other people make up your mind for you. “Seek and ye shall find.” Don’t let the world drag you around by the nose and lead you down the wrong path. Find the facts for yourself.

No book ever written is more necessary for life than the Bible. And don’t be misled by the naysayers. They have tried for centuries and have failed. Don’t be a victim of their misleading.

The Anvil of God's Word

“Last eve I paused beside the blacksmith’s door,
And heard the anvil ring the vesper chime;
Then looking in, I saw upon the floor,
Old hammers, worn with beating years of time.

“‘How many anvils have you had,’ said I,
‘To wear and batter all these hammers so?’
‘Just one,’ said he, and then with twinkling eye,
‘The anvil wears the hammers out, you know.’

“And so, I thought, the Anvil of God’s Word
For ages skeptic blows have beat upon;
Yet, though the noise of falling blows was heard,
The Anvil is unharmed, the hammers gone.”

—Attributed to John Clifford

But the word of the Lord endureth for ever... 1 Peter 1:25

The Bible Stands

The Bible stands like a rock undaunted
'Mid the raging storms of time;
Its pages burn with the truth eternal,
And they glow with a light sublime.

Refrain
The Bible stands though the hills may tumble,
It will firmly stand when the earth shall crumble;
I will plant my feet on its firm foundation,
For the Bible stands.

The Bible stands like a mountain towering
Far above the works of men;
Its truth by none ever was refuted,
And destroy it they never can.

The Bible stands, and it will forever
When the world has passed away;
By inspiration it has been given,
All its precepts I will obey.

The Bible stands every test we give it,
For its Author is divine;
By grace alone I expect to live it,
And to prove and to make it mine.
—Haldor Lillenas

Many are coming to God in these last days. However, many say they are Christian when they don’t have a clue what that title means. Awaken and see that the fields are white unto harvest and as the world becomes more evil, Jesus will not tarry much longer. Are you ready?

America was strong when America read the Bible and lived according to is precepts. Today it seems things are just the opposite.

Are you a Christian but don’t take the time to read God’s Word? Are you burdened and heavy laden? Do you have a hunger that cannot be satisfied – come and feast at the table of God’s Word – there you will find solace.
