Spirituality - defined as belief in a power greater than oneself combined with an awareness of purpose and meaning to life - plays a bigger role in the healing process than the medical community had previously suspected.
"Qualities like faith, hope, and forgiveness, and the use of social support and prayer seem to have a noticeable effect on health and healing." University of Maryland Medical Center.
For new agers spirituality may take a slightly different form than Christianity, and other established religions, in that many new agers attribute the Universe or Spirit as that higher power. But when it comes to reaping the physical and spiritual benefits of faith - or belief in something greater than yourself - and attributing meaning to your life, it doesn't seem to matter what you call it. It seems it is the act of faith anf belief itself that brings about spiritual and physical well-being.
Maine writers like Linda Batey and Karen Lee Banks know how important sharing uplifting quotes about God is to the lives of others. Both make a habit of sharing them on Facebook and other social media sites on a regular basis.
When asked why, Karen was quick to respond: "While not everyone believes in God or any specific higher power, I do, and sharing my daily 'Attitude of Gratitude' posts on Facebook is my way of honoring God and perhaps helping others to be thankful for what is good in their lives."
Linda, it seems, has similar motives, but chooses to share her faith in a slightly different manner. Linda’s posts often prompt readers to share messages pertaining to the power of God and are a bit more direct than Karen’s posts.
She says, “I share because I hope that my Christianity shows through in my everyday posts about my life. Maybe by doing so I prevent people from putting up walls.”
This Maine writer also shares inspirational posts to uplift and motivate others in her blog In the Direction of Dreams. While some posts pertain to the power of God or a higher power to direct our lives, many address maintaining faith in our own ability to direct our path and find joy in all that God has given.
