How I Met Your Mother” foreshadowed heartbreak in the Monday’s latest episode, and it seems that the series finale could involve the death of the mother, E! reported on March 3.

According to the report, there were some big clues in the episode, which was based around Ted telling his wife all of his stories.

"You're the love of my life, pooh bear. I just worry about you. I don't want you to be the guy who lives in his stories. Life only moves forward,” Ted’s future wife tells him in a flash forward scene.

Could the mother be terminally ill? It’s seems like a good theory after Ted tells his wife about how Robin’s mother made it just in time for her wedding, and his wife replies, “What mother is going to miss her daughter’s wedding?” and Ted begins to break into tears.

The final clue that the “How I Met Your Mother” finale is going to have a tear jerking ending came after Ted told his wife how he planned to move to Chicago, and he and gang didn’t know when they would all be together again, so they just hung out like normal.

Ted’s wife finishes his thought saying, "it's best to leave it unspoken and enjoy each other's company."
Are you totally bummed out yet? It seems like Ted won’t get his happy ending after all?

This theory makes sense as Ted could be telling his kids about how he met their mother after she's passed. Will we learn the mother's name on her tombstone?
