How I Met Your Mother Episode Examination: Dual Citizenship

Canadians love bar fights
cbs.com

Canada what a great country.  Where else do hot chicks start bar fights? In this weeks episode Robin has broken a man's nose and now is being threaten with being deported from the United States.  Her best course for action is to become an American Citizen. Lucky for her she has Barney to help.

As we all know Barney has little respect for the Great White North.  The jokes about Canada are all through this one.  Americans are not spared either, especially how little we know about geography.

The subplot of this episode was refreshing because we finally saw Ted and Marshall together again.  Ted is really excitied about a road trip him and his best friend are going on to Chicago to have some of the worst pizza in the world. The best part for Ted is the trip is supposed to be without Lily. But of course Marshall invites her along.

What crossed my mind during this episode is how many of my friends I have lost to the dreaded "we".  The "we" is when a couple always refers to each other in every thing they do, such as "The doctor says 'we' no longer have a hemorrhoid problem."  Friendships do change when one person settles down and gets married. It is a fact a life.  It is actually this bonding of Lily and Marshall to become one person that helps to drive Ted to find his one future wife.  For our friendships to remain strong though, we still need some hang time now and then.

With a desire to keep it light on the spoilers;  I will just say that Ted ends up kidnapping Marshall and thanks to a heartwarming story about a dog named Sparky, the two are able to come to an understanding.

This was a good episode for the simple fact we actually got to see Robin and Barney interact as a couple sepearate from the group. Any episode where we can see how much a softy Barney is hilarious, if not for the simple fact he has to be extremely arrogant to show it. Another great part was to see flash backs of Ted and Marshall from their college days. Check out Ted's hair and tell me if you do not laugh. Dual Citizenship was a good episode and is more of what I think alot of fans are looking to see in Season 5.

Oh and Kenny Rogers has a cameo.

When Jason Luntz is not hanging with his buddies and talking about the women they are dating, he is watching How I Met Your Mother. Originally from Jersey right out side of NYC, he knows all about being juggling love, friends, and a daily intake of beer. If you have an idea of who the mother is...

I have not a clue what show this is, because I don't watch much television at all. I came by to show my support and I enjoyed reading nonetheless. :) You've sparked my interest, however.

Great article, the best scene to me was when Lily didn't even realize that Marshall had snuck away, she was so busy indulging herself..."oh you went somewhere"...hilarious!!

Good review. I agree that many people loose themselves in their rel;ationships and it leads to resentment because they wonder how it all happened. It all starts with the lost of their identity and the "We" complex.

I can not believe it was rerun tonight
