How Gaming Companies Insult Girl's Intelligence

Barbie, My Little Pony, Disney Princesses; all of these are standard toys found in many girls rooms as they grew up, but not video games.

The gaming industries would love to make bank on the female half of the worlds’ population and most of their techniques consist of taking tired concepts of what girls like and wiring them into pixels.

Sadly little substance in storytelling and general concepts makes vivid gameplay with strictly feminine sales plows make most of the games absolute garbage and detour girls from gaming beyond the age of ten. One example of how a gaming company failed to draw much attention of female players was Pokemon.

They added a female player option and contests where dance, beauty and performance won ribbons.  Played an awful lot like one of those child beauty pageants and it annoyed the spoon out of me.

Girly colored consoles, controllers, and shallow games like “The Daring Game for Girls”.  There was nothing complex about these moves from gaming companies; they were just looking for a quick buck.
Even when a woman appears in a video game as smart, intelligent and downright deadly, she has to be sexualized or super feminine.
Girls games consist of being a super mom like in “My Baby Girl”, a superstar like Hanna Montana or just play dress up.

Shallow concepts, beget shallow games and insult the intelligence of the girl gaming community.

An example of a game with a strong female character would be Princess Zelda’s legend.  Every game says it’s her legend, but why was the game titled that when Link was the main character?  I would like to know her story.
She has a developed background, awesome magical powers and beautiful without the lingerie warrior look.
BAM!  There you go Nintendo, a game girls would appreciate and guys would still play because girls just want to kick butt without being ogled at.
