The critically acclaimed television show may be about the meth business indirectly but it’s all based on the fact that “Walter White,” the shows lead character has been diagnosed with terminal lung cancer and his efforts to pay for his chemo therapy, and his worries about dying and what he can do to leave his family a way to survive after his death. The question is how much research and how far has cancer research come since 2008 until now to find a cure.

ALERT ACT of 2009 was to do the very same thing as the original ACT, provide money for research, supply grants for screening, referrals for treatment and increase access to clinical trials.
In 2008 the Obama-Biden Plan to Combat Cancer was a part of their presidential campaign platform which would double “federal funding” for cancer research in five years, and an economic stimulus package that would find a “cure” in our time. In 2009 Harper’s Bazaar President Obama told about his mother’s battle with ovarian cancer. Obama announced $1 billion of $5 billion for medical research would be spent on research for genetic causes of cancer and targeting cancer treatments.
The most common symptoms are shortness of breath,
- coughing, coughing up blood,
- clubbing fingernails,
- fatigue, chest pain,
- bone pain,
- superior vena cava obstruction,
- difficulty swallowing and
- weight loss.
- If cancer grows in the airways it can cause pneumonia via blockage and breathing difficulties.
The common cause of lung cancer is smoking 80-90-percent of lung cancers, 10-15-percent are attributed to radon, asbestos, genetic factors, metals, soot, toxic gases, rubber production, chromium VI and air pollution.
15% of people diagnosed with lung cancer survive for five more years. Worldwide lung cancer is the most common cause of death in men and women as of 2008, lung cancer is responsible for 1.38 million deaths annually. Along with smoking, the diagnosis of cancer has gone down with the percentage of people who smoke.
