We all hear about our need to be faithful. But have you ever considered how faithful is God towards us?
In a series to celebrate the Year of Faith as proclaimed by Pope Benedict XVI, The Shrine of the Sacred Heart at 5800 Smith Avenue in Mount Washington is offering a series of lectures. On Wednesday January 23, Dr. Michael Gorman of St. Mary's Seminary of Roland Park will offer a talk on "The Faithfulness of God and the Faith according to Paul". The talk will be held in the undercroft of the church at 7:00 pm. The lecture is free and open to the public. All are invited to attend.
The Shrine of the Sacred Heart is a multicultural parish. It offers daily mass at noon, and four weekend masses. The Shrine has been in the Mount Washington area since 1867.
The Year of Faith was proclaimed by Pope Benedict XVI on October 11, 2012, to encourage Catholics and Christians everywhere to renew their dedication and devotion to God. Although there will be many public celebrations and common confessions of faith, the specific aim of this year is that every Christian rediscovers his or her “journey of faith so as to shed ever clearer light on the joy and renewed enthusiasm of the encounter with Christ” (Apostolic Letter, Porta Fidei, 2).
