It is becoming increasingly important for small businesses (and large) to focus more of their marketing efforts on mobile search. Every day consumers are searching more on their smartphones, tablets etc. and less on their computers.
The most beneficial fact of this shift in search is that the majority of mobile search is local...so for small businesses this means new LOCAL customers!
So many of you may ask how to benefit from local search. The answer to that is very simple: optimize your site for mobile search as well as regular search.
I personally am not a fan of mobile websites but I do believe in websites that function well on a mobile device. Responsive themes are my absolute favourite but a regular wordpress site that's been built clean and with mobile search in mind is fine too.
Focusing your keyword optimization on local keywords is essential for mobile search (since majority is local). Make sure you're choosing words like "Marketing in Calgary" opposed to "Marketing."
Have a tracking and measuring system in place and make sure you're able to tell which leads are coming from what campaign and rule out what's working and what's not.
