How do we know if our fruits and veggies are organic?

Most of us go to the farmers market either during the week or on weekends. The best ones I have found are Santa Monica on 3rd Street Promenade on Wed, and Brentwood on the weekend.

So many of our locals farmers participate in these farmers markets. A lot of our farmers have signs above their fruit and vegetables stands that their farm is organic.

This may or may not be valid. In order to become an Organic Certified farm all fruits and veggies must be grown without any pesticide. Deep topsoil and the best climates make for tasty organic fruits. What I have also learned is that most farms are generational . The traditions are passed down for generation to generation.

An interesting farm is Green Acres, this is a teaching farm which builds relationships with the earth, people, families and food. They also use renewable energy .

What our future could look like with foods that are sustainable could help alleviate diabetes, and create a world where obesity is a thing of the past.

As always keep our environment safe.
