You have taken the plunge to get your navel pierced and now it is taking forever to heal. The reason being is that the navel has more tissue that has been pierced and the body is healing from the outside in. Here are the top 10 things you should do to promote a healthy fully healed piercing.

1. Keep it clean.
2. Don’t touch it (or wash your hands well before doing so).
3. Sea salt and warm water soaks.
4. Stay out of hot tubs and public pools.
5. Don't wear tight clothing that touches your piercing.
6. Keep the captive bead ring in until your piercing is no longer weeping.
7. Don't change your piercing to a heavy dangle, keep it light for the first year.
8. Always keep something in your piercing it can heal in a few hours even after 6 months.
9. If it looks infected and bubbly consult your piercer,  you may have a nickel allergy too.
10. Migration is when your body is rejecting the piercing again call or visit your piercer.

Make sure you research your piercer and find someone that has years of experience or is a member of the APP Association of Professional Piercers. If you have your piercing done on vacation find a piercing shop when you get home and have them check it over for you. They will be a wealth of knowledge and help you with any questions you may have.
