People want to be successful. It’s part of our human nature and the reason why we have risen to the top of the food chain over time. Some lack the confidence to set goals and therefore find themselves unworthy of achieving great things. But it doesn’t mean that this desire isn’t inherently within them. And waiting for the opportunity to bubble to the surface, and breakthrough.
Whether you want to become an athlete, be named CEO of some great organization or simply achieve a degree from college, most of us have set out for and have become successful at one time or another in our lives. Some see their success through the healthy relationships they garner, by being good parents, trustworthy friends and loving pet owners. There are many roads to success, and in order to reach it, to fully understand it, it is helpful to learn tips from other successful people about ways to achieve it.
One person who knows what success looks and feels like is Deepak Chopra. Renowned writer, lecturer and physician of mind-body medicine, he has written over fifty books, fourteen of which are bestsellers based on the mind, body and spirit. Chicago’s very own, Oprah Winfrey has even used his knowledge, showcasing his advise on Oprah.com. On her site, he has written tidbits on self-realization matters ranging from pure consciousness, depression, spirituality and healthy aging.
And in his book, The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success, Deepak shares many pearls of wisdom surrounding the topic that many wish they had more of in their lives. Success. Written from a spiritual perspective, his readers begin to understand what it looks and feels like too. Material wealth alone doesn’t make people successful. Think about it, how many wealthy people do you know who are truly happy with their lives? They may not have to worry about money issues, but how are they left feeling at the end of the day? Are they full of love or empty inside?
Chopra writes that, “success in life could be defined as the continued expansion of happiness and the progressive realization of worthy goals.” But Deepak goes at step further, stating that true success also includes, “good health, energy and enthusiasm for life, fulfilling relationships, creative freedom, emotional and psychological stability, a sense of well-being, and peace of mind.”
A more holistic approach to the sometimes overlooked experience of having what you want, when you want it. This is only the tip of the iceberg though, as Chopra goes on to lay out his seven spiritual laws for success. So, in the name of self-realization, we are going to learn from the best-of-the-best. In the next few weeks, we will look at Deepak Chopra’s seven laws in greater detail. And at the same time, will discover local tools that can help you to work on applying his laws so that you can achieve your own success on your roadmap to life.
