How can ‘Snuffy’ Pfleger ‘lobby’ against a bill and keep tax-exempt status?

“Father Pfleger lobbies against concealed weapons law,” WBEZ91.5 reports.

Illinois is the only state that doesn't allow carrying concealed weapons.

Father Michael Pfleger is pushing to keep it that way in Illinois, and lobbying against the national effort, too.

In order to do so, Pfleger, nicknamed “Snuffy” at The War on Guns blog for urging an indignant mob of his followers to “snuff out” a gun shop owner,  “held a press event” at St. Sabina Church.

In spite of the Church’s tax exempt status, it would seem. As a registered 501(c)(3) public charity:

The organization will not, as a substantial part of its activities, attempt to influence legislation (unless it elects to come under the provisions allowing certain lobbying expenditures)...

While the fedgov’s Constitutional authority to have any say whatsoever in squelching political activism from the pulpit is a fair debate to have, and while the role of some Founding era ministers in spurring their congregations to support the War of the Rebellion (and others to remain loyal to the King) is well documented, the regressives are notably one-sided in their zeal to silence only conservative preaching. Notable among these is Americans United for Separation of Church and State, which, through sheer agenda-driven hypocrisy has earned the appellation “Americans United Against Non-Marxist Church/State Partnerships” at The War on Guns.

Fair is fair. If the “tolerant” left is going to invoke the state to silence conservative political thought, let’s see how they like living under the edicts they would impose on those who do not share their ideology.  It’s not the optimal solution, but Snuffy’s old enough to remember when Mass was still said predominantly in Latin:

CUM ULLA SELLA IN PUGNO TABERNA.
