Your house sale is pending – but you’re not yet living on easy street. Without due diligence on your part, as well as that of your agent and buyer, deals can fall apart.
Here’s a few tips for preventing that:
- Be sure that your agent provides the appraiser with comps to support the sale price
- Also, be sure your agent puts prospective buyers through a rigorous qualification process
- Work with the appraiser to get the right appraisal once the house is in contract
- Have pre-sale inspection reports done. Make sure both pest and contractor’s reports are completed. This is one of the strongest ways you can prevent renegotiation and a failed deal. It’s not difficult or terribly costly.
While following these steps will not necessarily prevent your deal from falling apart, they’ll certainly better your odds. And we all want the best odds we can have.
