The two-hour pilot for Syfy’s new venture into the Battlestar Galactica universe (Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome) has finally begun filming in Vancouver, which means it could and should hit our television screens later this year.
A new cast member, Lili Bordan, will play Dr. Beka Kelly, a Ph.D. who worked for Graystone Industries that created the Cylon robots. Hopefully this means we might actually get some concrete info on Daniel Greystone and who the final five were talking about as the unseen 7th model.
What we do know is that Luke Pasqualino (The Apparition, Skins-UK) will play young fighter pilot Ensign William Adama (played by Edward James Olmos as Admiral Adama on BSG). The young Adama is a recent graduate from the Academy eager to see some action. Assigned to Galactica, the newest Battlestar in the Colonial fleet, Adama clashes with his commanding officer, Coker, played by Ben Cotton (Caprica, Riese, Harper’s Island). Coker has only 45 days left on his tour of duty and wants nothing more to do with fighting and war. Eventually the two men bond over a routine mission that turns dangerous and becomes critical for the fleet.
Blood & Chrome takes place in the tenth year of the first Cylon war. Sources say this series will be more like Battlestar Galactica than Caprica since it involves the war with the Cylons. Expect to see lots of action and great character development.
The new installment was written by Michael Taylor from a story by David Eick, Taylor, Bradley Thompson and David Weddle and directed by Jonas Pate. Eick, Jonas Pate and Michael Taylor will serve as executive producers
