It is true what they say, dogs are like children that seem to stay young and never grow up. Many of us can follow that way of life and have a more carefree life; except that we as humans have many more stresses than our pooches to deal with. Either way, it is important that your dog does get healthy, happy fun play time each day. You can find so many wonderful things for your dog to play with at your local Rockford-area Petsmart or Petco as listed below or one closest to your home.

Toys and games for your dog are not an option but a necessity. Dogs need to play since it is not only a way to ward off boredom but it stimulates their minds and keeps them active. Some toys will inspire your dog while others may not, so you have to experiment with your pet for things that will keep its interest. It is important to find toys that your dog loves and doesn't tire of. Ensure that you also provide several interactive, challenging toys that makes your pooch uses its brain and thinks out a solution.

When visiting your pet supply store, choose several puzzle-type toys that can provide hours of fun for your pet, whether you are there or not. Most of these toys require that you place treats inside of the toys, enticing your dog to "work at it" until all of the treats are reached and eaten. For daily fun, choose several interactive puzzle toys and switch them off, offering a different toy each day. That way, it appears to be new and fun rather than the same old thing!

Of course, when you are home, interactive fun with your dog is important as well, to include such fun as a brisk walk or jog, tossing a ball or Frisbee, fun in the water or any other activity your pet enjoys. Keeping your pet active with playtime is a way to keep your dog healthy and happy; important for a long, fulfilling life.
