How a Group of five is inspiring thousands by taking smalls steps towards self reliance.

Pakistan is known as a third world country plagued with terrorism, insecurity and financial instability. Most Muslims countries are not self reliant and are dependent upon others for almost everything. Allah has blessed Pakistan and other Muslim countries with countless natural resources and the people have immense talent. When people of Pakistan or Muslim Umah put their minds to something they attain it regardless of the obstacles they face. Biggest example of that is acquiring the nuclear technology. So one should ask why Pakistan is in the condition that it's in right now? Why are the people of Pakistan suffering.

The answer to that is very simple. The problem with Pakistan is that it's people are looking at others to take initiative . They are waiting for miracles to happen. They want their troubles to go away but aren't doing anything about it. They keep re-electing corrupt and incompetent politicians and hope for better results. As Allah says in the Holy Quran, “Truly, God does not change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves.” (Quran 13:11)

I recently came across of group of young Pakistanis who gave me hope that things will change for the better. Their group is called, “Responsible Citizens” and they are taking things in their own and trying to make a difference. They get together in their spare time and collect the trash in Lahore, Pakistan. Along with collecting the trash they are also educating people about the social responsibility of keep our surroundings clean. These youngsters have taken actual steps to do something for what they feel strongly about.

The group Responsible Citizens originally consisted of Shoaib, Pavel, Umar, Saif and Murtaza. Their Facebook group has reached 1094 members. I am not sure how many are actively participating in the trash collection but it's still very encouraging. According to their Face book they are bringing tangible change through small efforts.

Lesson to be learned from the group mentioned above is to take the first step yourself instead of waiting for others to take initiative. Please take their example and implement it in every aspect of your life and you will never fail. Pakistan and Muslim Umah needs to wake up and pay attention to the real issues they are faced with. Allah has blessed us with countless natural resources and people with immense talent. Instead of depending on others we need to become self reliant and depend on ourselves.

Excellent article! I too, have been in a similar situation... I was raised Jehovah's Witness, and speaking to several family members, they almost have this fear of living life to it's fullest because Jesus is coming and when he does - all the worldly people (all non-JWs) will perish, and they will live a peaceful and good life with Jesus as king.

I am astonished at times to find how their faith teaches them to wait until someone comes to save them - as opposed to finding the power to save t
