HOUSTON- My Fox Houston is reporting that Houston may soon be the home of a Beyonce Monument. According to the station, Marcus Mitchell and Washington D.C. native Steve White are currently seeking private donors for a Beyonce monument to be placed near Downtown, Missouri City or Harris County.
“She is the number 1 entertainer from Houston. She’s in the prime of her career, producer, actress; Houston is proud and she comes back to Houston often,” Says White of the “Single Ladies” singer. Marcus Mitchell adds, “Our biggest thing is a lot of people get honored when they die, so our goal is to why not honor people why they're still here? We felt as though it’s her time to be honored.”
Some locals are even on board with the monument plans, “I think it would bring a lot of extra tourists here and with how we’re growing the city now, I think it would be something good,” Brittnee Jones said.
The pair, whose company Armdeonce Ventures will over look the project, is hoping to have the project completed my Beyonce’s birthday, September 4th.
