USTA Texas and USPTA Texas honored three Houstonians at the awards banquet in Grapevine, Texas, for their contributions to the growth of tennis in the state.
Former Houston Tennis Association president Randy Ortwein received the W. T. Caswell Service Award, and John Wilkerson, senior director of tennis for the Zina Garrison All-Court Academy, got the Lloyd Sessions Educational Merit Award.
Cindy Benzon, USTA Texas Southeast service representative and adaptive tennis coordinator, received the Diversity Award from USPTA Texas for her work for adaptive players.
HTA president Emily Schaefer and HTA members Harold Graham and Gloria Dial were cited for their service to the USTA Texas management committee.
Four area residents received awards for their many years of volunteer service – Robert Dunivan for 25 years; Tommy Connell and Jean Jablonski for 15; and Nancy Vivero for 10.
