Houston Valentine events share the love for couples and just friends

Don’t miss out on an amorous couples’ getaway or a night out for some single friend fun on Valentine’s Day in Houston.

Great Night Out for Everyone:
RA Sushi hosts its first-ever “Foodies Show Heart” charity sushi-rolling competition on Thursday, Feb. 13, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the RA Sushi Highland Village location (3908 Westheimer). The tasting event will pit six prominent, local culinary writers and bloggers against each other in a battle for a noble cause. The contestants will be paired with a RA Sushi chef to create and name their signature roll. The public will serve as the judging panel during the celebration, with each attendee receiving one token to vote on the best sushi roll. The champion’s dish will be added to RA Sushi’s menu for 30 days, and a portion of proceeds from the sale of that item will benefit the creator’s charity of choice.

All the Single Ladies (and Guys):
Join in at the Baker St. Pub and Grill in Katy and the Rice Village locations for a “Love Sucks" party on Friday, February 14. At the Katy location at 23501 Cinco Ranch Blvd from 6-9 p.m., guests will have the chance to partake in the Best pick-up line contest, Heart break trivia, Heartbreaking pinata contest and beer specials. The Rice Village location at 5510 Morningside will feature Best pick-up line contest, Cold hearted margaritas, Ex-darts competition (bring your Ex's picture -- PG rated photos only), and Heart break cake.

At Sherlock's Baker St. Pub in Clear Lake and in Houston on Westheimer, patrons can also join in for a "Love Sucks" party on both Wednesday, February 12 and Friday, February 14 from 6-8 p.m. Contests scheduled for the events include Best pick-up line contest, Heart break trivia, Heartbreaking pinata contest and beer specials. The Clear Lake location is at 2416 Bay Area Blvd, and the Westheimer location is at 10001 Westheimer Road.

Celebrate Singles Appreciation Day at Salé-Sucré, 2916 White Oak, during a special happy hour on Thursday, February 13 from 5- 7:30 p.m. with complimentary hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar with Happy Hour pricing and a live band. Those attending are encouraged to wear green and to bring their single friends. And if someone finds his or her match and stays for dinner, they will receive a complimentary dessert. Hermann Park welcomes couples to their Valentine’s Day Dinner and a Cruise. Guests will enjoy a romantic Valentine’s dinner and pedal boat cruise at Hermann Park with a casual three-course dinner of picnic-fare catered by Pinewood Café. The evening also includes chocolates and a flower for each couple to take home. Wine and beer will be available for purchase and live music will entertain guests throughout the evening. Another choice for a romantic getaway is at downtown Houston's historic Lancaster Hotel. The hotel unveiled its $10 million makeover in late 2013. Executive Chef Tyler Malson is spicing up Valentine’s Day with a three-course menu priced at $65 per person. Find romance at Hotel ICON throughout the month of February with two special packages offered each weekend. Share the fun with the “Double Date Valentine’s Dinner” priced at $2,014. “Love Blooms” with the aptly named overnight package for two, Rates start at $1,214 per couple. The package offers a room upgrade option to the hotel’s three-story penthouse suite, which brings the rate to $2,014 per night.
