The side will be called the Houston Dash and will play all their matches out of the Dynamo's BBVA Compass Stadium in Downtown Houston.
The Dash become the ninth club in the NWSL and are the first expansion club to join the league, which is entering its second league.
There will be challenges for the new club, being the most remote outpost of the league, with their closest opponents being Kansas City and as such the only southern team in the league.
Houston are seeking out their first coach and are beginning the process of piecing together a roster with rumors that Alex Morgan may be interested after her engagement to Dynamo midfielder Servando Carrasco.
Two other potential signings for the Dash could well be defender Natasha Anasi and striker Chioma Ubogagu, both members of the US Under 23 team and both from the DFW area of Texas.
Anasi has finished up her senior year at Duke and will be available in the NWSL College Draft but Houston could also claim the young defender as a discovery player and add her to their roster.
Ubogagu will have to wait a year to join the Dash as she enters her Senior year at Stanford in 2014 but Houston could make a discovery signing now to claim the youngster for the 2015 season.
The NWSL allows for an 18-20 woman roster and players can be acquired through discovery signings, allocation or from the NWSL College Draft which will take place on January 17th. The league will also hold an Expansion Draft, that will likely work the same way as the MLS Expansion drafts, where Houston will be able to pick from a list of unprotected players from each team to form their squad.
Unlike the usual set up of a draft for an expansion side, Houston will have to be patient in the NWSL College Draft, having to wait until the 5th pick in the first round before having the first pick in the second and fourth rounds; Dash will not get a pick in the third round of the draft.
Houston Dash will be selling season tickets beginning Monday from their website with prices starting at $144 for a 12 home match season.
