The Shell and Pennzoil Grand Prix of Houston presented by the Greater Houston Honda Dealers will be a “Three-Day Festival of Speed,” featuring nine events during the event, taking place Friday through Sunday, October 4th through 6th at Reliant Park.
The double-feature IZOD IndyCar Series event, now called the Texas Indy Showdown, will headline the weekend on Saturday and Sunday. There will also be four sports car races – two races for the Pirelli World Challenge Championship and one each from the Playboy Mazda MX-5 and Champions Race for Charity. The weekend also includes the three development rungs on the “Mazda Road to Indy ladder – the Cooper Tires USF2000 Powered by Mazda, The Pro Mazda Championship Presented by Cooper Tires and Firestone Indy Lights.
"We are thrilled to announce such an attractive race schedule for the Grand Prix. Typically events like this only have four to five races," said Austin Crossley, Managing Director of the Grand Prix. "A total of nine races that feature not only the Texas Indy Showdown, but also the complete Road to Indy and four sports car races makes this event perfect for all motor sports fans."
