Houston father shoots teen: Boy's mom reacts to father shooting teen son

A Houston father shoots a teen boy to protect his daughter and everyone's life is changed forever. On Thursday a 16-year-old girl was caught with a 17-year-old boy in her bed and told her dad she didn't know who he was. The father shot and killed Johran McCormick only to have his daughter admit she did knew Johran.

Johran's mother is now speaking out and wants the man who killed her son convicted on murder charges.

"If you take a life, you give your life," Zakia McCormick said. "We're suffering. Why isn't he suffering too?"

The unidentified father said he heard noises coming from his daughter's bedroom in the middle of the night, FOX News reported March 15. Immediately after the whole incident, the father suffered a panic attack and was sent to the hospital.

Johran's father, Shawn Curley, doesn't believe anyone shoots someone on accident.

“You don’t shoot someone in the head on accident,” Curley said.

Curley wishes the father would have asked questions before firing the gun.

"I wished the father could have asked more questions, he could have picked up the phone," Curley said. "And for her to say she didn't know who he was, that was most hurtful."

Johran's parents want the Houston father charged with murder and sentenced to life in prison.

A Harris County grand jury will determine if murder charges should be filed against Johran's shooter.

Will a grand jury find that the Houston father who shot the teen should be charged with murder or that he fired a weapon because he believed the young man was a stranger?

Update: Funeral services for Johran McClintock were held Sunday afternoon. Friends of the 17-year-old wore bowties, a style he liked, according to March 17.
