One of the fastest growing trends in the world of pet care is in-home pet sitting. As more and more pets are looked upon as family members, their human family wants them to have the comforts of home even when they cannot be present to care for them personally. Also, many animal caretakers would like to think that when they are away on their human vacations, their animal companions may be having the equivalent of a pet vacation.
There are three primary ways pet-sitting is done:
- A person is paid to visit the pet regularly in their own home when the family is away.
- A person is paid to actually live-in with the pet while the family is away.
- The pet is dropped off at a private home where he may live with that family while his own family is out of town.
One such business is Duzty & Tutes B 'n B in Spring. There the doors are open to any dog under 20 lbs. to live as a member of the family. The owner never has more than three visiting dogs at any time which means the maximum number of dogs in the household will never exceed five. And, to be sure the little critters view the B 'n B as a home away from home, they may come for play days.
In The Heights you might want to try Big Dog & Miss Kitti's pet sitter where your companions can stay home and get regular visits and walks.
There are many online services, but the best care is home care and the best businesses are small local businesses. so, the next time you are thinking about taking a vacation and worrying where your animal companion will spend that time, look for a locally-owned independent pet-sitter or home pet care.
