The Tommy Tune Award Winning Houston Christian High School Theater (HC) proudly presents "The Wizard of Oz," at the Dunham Theater located at Houston Baptist University, 7502 Fondren Rd. Performances will be held on February 28th and March 1st at 7:00 p.m. and March 2nd 3:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m
"The students are working hard and are excited to bring this magical production to life," states Robert "Bobby" Linhart, director and HC drama teacher. "The special effects will amaze audiences of all ages," said Linhart.
Based on the 1900 novel "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" by L. Frank Baum, "The Wizard of Oz" is a heart-warming tale of hope, courage, and love. Come join Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tinman, the Cowardly Lion, and Toto as they travel the universe of Dorothy's imagination, seeking the Majestic Wizard of Oz's guidance.
The HC Drama Department focuses on blending academically challenging stage material such as Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap (2012) and Shakespeare's As You Like It (2011) with great Musical Theatre culminating in polished productions each year. The HC Drama Department is the winner of the Tommy Tune Award of Best Choreography for its production of Fiddler on the Roof (2011).
General admission tickets start at $10 per person. Certain sections are $30-$40 per person. Groups of twelve or more receive discounts in certain sections.
