On Monday, August 26th, Lindenwood University hosted a Houses of Faith Church Fair in the Evans Commons Building. The event lasted from 10:30-2:30 and was located across from the Dining Hall in the hallway at Evans Commons. The event was attended by local Christian churches in the communities of St. Charles, St. Peters and O'Fallon. Churches involved were: Immanuel Lutheran, Mercy Road Fellowship, The Refuge, Matthias Lot, Victory Christian Fellowship, The Ark of Safety, Saint Charles Presbyterian Church, Grace Presbyterian Church among others. The design of the event was to expose incoming students to the various faith communities in the surrouding area. Each church had a table in which they displayed pamphlets with service times, outreach events, and programs of their liking. Not wanting any student to run away by seeing a pamphlet, many churches also provided bottled water, candy, and cookies. The event was a success by providing a visible witness to the Lindenwood student body about the local faith communities in their area.
Tim Butler, Adjunct Professor of Religion and University Chaplain at Lindenwood hosted the event. Tim is also Pastor of Discipleship at Grace Presbyterian Church in Cottleville, Missouri. Tim was instrumental in helping set up the tables for event and seeking to garner the attention of local churches to be involved in the Lindenwood community.
