A House stenographer’s meltdown during the vote to end the government shutdown is heartbreaking to the people who know her. Dianne Reidy, a long-time House stenographer, is described as a “gentle soul” by a colleague. She took to the podium screaming about God and the nation divided, according to the IB Times on Oct. 17.
Reidy, who gave no indication she was about to start a ruckus stepped up to the podium ranting and raving. She was taken out by security still screaming. According to “Fox and Friends” live on Thursday morning, she is undergoing a psychiatric evaluation.
As Reidy started her spiel, Rep. Ileana Ros Lehtinen, R-Florida started to bang her gavel demanding “Order!” repeatedly.
Public Radio International quotes Reidy as saying:
“He will not be mocked! This is not one nation under God. It never was. The greatest deception here is this is not one nation under god! It never was. Had it been, it would not have been! The Constitution would not have been written by Freemasons! You cannot serve two masters! You cannot serve two masters! Praise be to God, Lord Jesus Christ."
It is not known what prompted Reidy’s outburst but most folks who know the woman are saddened over this change of personality she exhibited during the House vote. Rep. Gerry Connolly, D-Virginia, expressed his “sympathy” for Reidy. He said about the stenographer’s actions that “something clearly happened here.” Others who know her said she “just snapped,” explaining this is not at all like her normal persona.
