The House of Representatives passed House Resolution 31 in a straight up-or-down vote on January 11th, 2011. The bill, which appoints Representatives to House committies, was introduced by Rep. John B. Larson (D-CT-1), Chair of the House Democratic Caucus, the fourth Ranking Democrat in the House.

The resolution after being introduced as a privileged matter, was agreed to without objection, and a motion to reconsider was laid on the table.

The Standing Committies of Congress that had it's members appointed today were the Committies of Appropriations, Energy and Commerce, and Ways and Means, as well as one member being added to the Ethics Committee.
