On the first Saturday of every month, Petco located at 9828 Great Hills Trails converts their training center into an adoption center. During my visit on Satruday, August 6, 2011, a portion of the room was dedicated to House Rabbit Resource Network. Three loyal but exhausted volunteers were on hand to answer questions about these furry loving family pets. This non profit organization is seeking volunteers to assist with various types of duties.
According to their website, “We’re searching for responsible, reliable, energetic, friendly people to help our shelter rabbits. We have openings in RABBIT CARE (including cleaning enclosures, changing litter boxes, feeding, grooming and exercising rabbits).
If working with the rabbits at the shelter isn’t your interest, we certainly have many other volunteer needs in other areas such as TRANSPORTATION, ADOPTION EVENTS, FUNDRAISING, HELPING OUR WEBMASTER, MARKETING, CLERICAL, PHOTOGRAPHY and/or PASSING OUT FLYERS IN YOUR AREA. There are so many, many ways you can help! Just let us know what you’re interested in doing – every little thing helps!
COME VOLUNTEER AND EXPERIENCE HOW REWARDING HELPING SHELTER RABBITS CAN BE.”
As a volunteer for other nonprofit animal organizations, I have acquired new friends and learned new useful skills. I receive hand shakes, smiles, and hugs from individuals who really appreciate my assistance.
Here is your chance to show off your talents while helping family rabbits seek new homes. The rabbits, of course, can’t speak but when you look into their eyes you’ll know they appreciate your efforts!
Stop by this Saturday, August 13that the Petco Hancock Center located at 1000 East 41stStreet to meet the House Rabbit Resource Network volunteers and several house rabbits eager to be adopted. They will be there between 1 pm – 4 pm.
