The House Committee on Natural Resources approved legislation to create a new Wildlife & Hunting Heritage Conservation Council Advisory Committee. The committee would advise the departments of Interior and Agriculture on on wildlife and habitat conservation, hunting, recreational shooting and related matters. It would replace the current Wildlife & Hunting Heritage Conservation Council.
The committee approved the Sportsmen's Heritage And Recreational Enhancement (SHARE) Act (H.R. 2799) on Wednesday, Oct. 30. Read about its action at http://naturalresources.house.gov/calendar/eventsingle.aspx?EventID=356482.
And for details on the legislation, see the story linked to below.
The committee acted directly, bypassing its Subcommittee on Fisheries, Wildlife, Oceans, and Insular Affairs. But the bill is also pending before the House Agriculture Subcommittee on Conservation, Energy & Forestry, which can consider the bill before the full House can vote. The Natural Resources Committee also must officially report the bill. No similar bill is pending in the Senate.
The committee approved an amendment including waterfowl hunting organizations among groups to be represented on the committee.
