Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD) who is the highest-ranking Democrat on the House Oversight Committee has been directly linked to the IRS scandal in which conservative Christian groups were persecuted and denied tax-exempt status.
This information surfaced after a whistle-blower leaked a new series of emails between Cummings and former IRS bureaucrat at the center of this scandal Lois Lerner. Read more about Rep. Cummings involvement in the IRS scandal here.
Cummings lied to the Oversight Committee about his direct involvement with this targeting operation, which he was supposed to be investigating!
Mr. Cummings became the Ranking Member on the House Oversight Committee back in 2010, which was never supposed to happen.
Based on seniority, the position should have gone to former Rep. Edolphus Towns (D-NY) who had more seniority and experience.
At that time, Obama needed someone on the Oversight Committee who would run interference and impede the forthcoming Fast & Furious investigation, which incoming Oversight Chairman Darrell Issa (R-CA) had promised to launch.
Years ago, Congressman Towns raised a ruckus by speaking out against the violent persecution of Christians in India, which earned him a rebuke from the Bill Clinton administration. Obama could not afford to let Rep. Towns have the Ranking Member spot on the Oversight Committee.
Obama did not trust a supporter of the Body of Christ to impede congressional investigations on his behalf, so he worked with Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) to stab Rep. Towns in the back and install Elijah Cummings as the Ranking Member of the Oversight Committee.
Elijah Cummings has been Obama's handpicked mole in the Oversight Committee for the past 3 years!
According to the new email evidence in the case against the IRS, Rep. Cummings began communicating with Lois Lerner's office back in August of 2012 just three months before the election.
Cummings asked Lerner's office for information about a Tea Party group known as "True the Vote," which advocates for voter ID programs and fair elections.
As stated by these emails, Lerner's office illegally funneled sensitive and confidential taxpayer information directly to Rep. Cummings' staff. Find out how you can help get Cummings expelled from the House Oversight Committee here.
Cummings sent threatening messages to True the Vote's founder under his official capacity on the Oversight Committee. He went so far as to accuse this Tea Party group of engaging in a "criminal conspiracy" to prevent blacks and Hispanics from voting in 2012.
Rep. Cummings NEVER told the Oversight Committee about his direct involvement in this scandal.
Right after Cummings and Lois Lerner began targeting True the Vote, its founder's business was audited by the IRS multiple times. Their business was also visited by the FBI multiple times, as well as the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and OSHA. The group was attacked by all of these federal agencies AFTER Cummings and Lerner began exchanging emails.
As the Ranking Member of the Oversight Committee, Cummings was supposed to be investigating the IRS scandal -- not participating in it. The fox has been guarding the hen house this whole time!
When the evidence against Cummings finally became overwhelming and he was asked about his involvement with Lois Lerner in a subcommittee hearing, Cummings lied and said the evidence was "absolutely incorrect and not true."
If any other person were to impede a congressional investigation as Cummings did and lie about it to Congress, that person would go to jail for up to five years.
Cummings is not a man of truth. He was Obama's personal pick for the Oversight Committee and was chosen specifically to trip up the investigations against the Obama regime.
Think back to all of the hearings on the IRS scandal and for that matter, all of the hearings into Fast & Furious.
Which member of the Oversight Committee was always slowing things down, accusing Chairman Issa of "partisan witch hunts" and playing the race card when new evidence surfaced regarding Obama, Eric Holder or Lois Lerner? The answer to that question is Rep. Elijah Cummings.
If you believe, that Rep. Elijah Cummings should be reprimanded his involvement in the IRS scandal and lying about it you can help by urging the House Oversight Committee expel him from the committee here.
