According to FOX, House (Also known as House, MD) is an innovative take on the medical drama in which the villain is a medical malady and the hero is an irreverent, controversial doctor who trusts no one, least of all his patients. It is a critically acclaimed prime time series that even has its own iPhone App. On Monday April 26, 2010, House treated his most interesting patient to date, a woman in an open marriage.

An open relationship/marriage is a relationship where both partners agree to participate in sexual and emotional relationships with others. It is soon revealed in the episode (Season 6, Episode 19 "Open and Shut")  that it is not as open as the patient believes, because the wife has other partners but the husband does not. A good point is made: some truths hurt.

Christine Laplante, MHC and a Goddess and Corporate Trainer with Athena's Home Novelties, says, "My only disappointment is they didn't portray a successful open marriage. There is still hesitation by the networks to show a positive portrayal of a healthy open relationship". Christine saw the episode and goes on to add, "I mean, it's House...so there needs to be cynicism and dishonesty. I believe in Unicorns and myth...its called faith."

Successful polyamourous relationships do exist. However, think about how hard it is to keep two people together...then add another and another.

The episode will be available Online on May 4, 2010.

House airs Mondays at 8/7c on FOX
