The House of Representatives passed the health care bill with a vote of 220-215 on Saturday. The only Republican to vote for the Democratic bill was Anh "Joseph" Cao from New Orleans, and nearly 40 Democrats voted against it. For a complete list of names of Democrats who voted against it, click here for the New York Times chart.
Health insurance coverage will cost 894 billion dollars according to Democrats, but will most likely cost over 1 trillion dollars once all provisions are included. The public option will be available in 2013, and illegal immigrants will not be covered.
As part of the public option of the health care bill, federal funds will not be available for abortion services or in the insurance “exchange” the bill will create; this excludes cases of rape, incest or if the mother's life is in danger. The vote passed 240-194 and was strongly supported by Republicans.
The bill passed Saturday will extend insurance coverage to 36 million Americans who currently do not have coverage. A limit will be placed on annual out-of-pocket expenses, and insurance companies will be prevented from denying coverage for pre-existing conditions.
On Thursday, President Obama welcomed the support of the AARP and the AMA for the health care bill. The AARP has 40 million members and is one of the largest groups to support the bill. For more on that story, click here.

If people were self-educated and knew more about this vote they would see that the 40 Democrats who voted against the health care bill did so because they are up for re-election in 2010. So were they voting for belief or for benefits?
Everyone else who voted for it, with the exception of the lone Republican from New Orleans, are most likely in "safe" seats where constituents are likely to vote Democrat anyway.
Regardless of how they voted, Democrats are going to be saddled with this anchor around their necks when election time rolls around next year. Just as Republicans are being blamed for Schwarzenegger's bad decisions in California even though the majority of bad legislation comes from Democrats, so will Blue Dogs be blamed for this huge government intrustion.
If liberals like socialism they have any number of other countries to which they can go. Conservatives only have the US, and we are losing that piece by piece.
H.R.3962, the Affordable Health Care for America Act passed, because a majority of voters elected Democratic Respresentatives to give us a voice.
The anchor you mentioned just became a stirrup on that saddle to lift us out of the stranglehold of privatized for profit healthcare.
We are the U.S, and we are tiring of being labeled with an -ism by small minded, single issue Conservatives bent on propping up profits over people.
Why is it that when conservative minded people point out the total and utter failure of socialism and communism in every country that it has been tried are called small minded and when alleged liberal minded people insist that the government will save them from their impoverished state are called open minded.
Billions or trillions have been spent by our government and levels of poverty and homelessness have stayed relatively the same. This "health care reform" is no different.
The government wont save you and the health care bill isnt about health care at all, its about political power and control, its about the foundation of this countries existence; Freedom.
But Im a small minded conservative who knows nothing so I should just trust that Washington really has my best interests at heart and really doesnt care about the money and the power. I should just let them take control of my everyday life because they know better than me what I really need. What was I thinking...
Note: The Democrats have sneaked Federal recognition of same sex marriage into this bill. House members overwhelmingly approved a health care reform bill Saturday that recognizes gay unions and makes health care more affordable for gay families.
The Affordable Health Care for America Act extends Medicaid to subsidize moderate-income people who otherwise could not afford quality health insurance. Also tucked inside the bill is Representative Jim McDermott's Tax Equity for Health Plan Beneficiaries Act of 2009 introduced in May.
McDermott, a Democrat from Washington, introduced the bill along with Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, a ranking Republican on the House Foreign Affairs Committee from Florida. The bill alters the tax status of health benefits granted to the spouses of gay employees. Under the bill, such benefits would no longer be considered taxable income for the employee.

The "public option" is a joke and Obama is a liar for saying illegals wont be covered...the supreme court has already established that public services must be available to everyone-even illegals- in the USA (thats why illegal can't be kept out of public schools) and the supreme court will simply throw out the provision that says illegals wont be covered.Furthermore the democrats have rejected all provisions to verify eligibility for the public option (to make sure all illegal will get covered). If people want more insurance competition then demand that your states insurance commission change their insurance requirements thereby encouraging more insurances to come into the state to compete-don't make a federal plan that will put our children and grandchildren in debt for the few americans that might benefit from the program-simple slip those into medicaid.
I hope the good people from Lousiana will vote this
idiot Republican Senator who voted for the Obamacare free abortions and bad healthcare bill OUT OF OFFICE. Remember folks "When the government gives to someone it takes away from someone else". The money this Healthcare program is going to take to work is too much for a few rich people and the middle class to support. So this means the Government will be looking at other programs like Welfare and other free handout programs. Ya gotta ask is it worth it???
Let's face it!! ONLY the stupid voters were voting when we the people were voting these idiots into office. How about everyone sit back and watch what happens to America and try not to cry..
